A recurring character on Late Night with David Letterman in the 1980s was the NBC Library Lady (played by scenic designer Kathleen Ankers), along with the “gruff but lovable” Gus, the bookmobile driver. In this sketch, the Library Lady is preparing for the “Battle of the Network Bookmobiles,” Letterman reviews some recent book titles, and Gus drives the bookmobile to the Live at Five set….
